Humane Education: Teaching Kids to Care For Animals


A teacher's guide for integrating humane education activities into the classroom is now available on this site (see humane classroom education) Using material gathered by the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland and the resources of the Linkage Project, as well as the Burden Foundation, Maine teachers now have a resource guide with sample lesson plans that bulid on subjects already taught and website links.

 

Maine Veterinarian Fact Sheet

The Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence and the Linkage Project teamed up to create a fact sheet on the link between animal cruelty and domestic violence specifically for Maine veterinarians. Please click on veterinary fact sheet to access this document.

 

Sowing Seeds Workshop

The Institute for Humane Education held a very successful Sowing Seeds workshop at Youth Alternatives Ingraham in South Portland on November 15th. Approximately 30 participants gathered to spend the day learning from Zoe Weil, founder of the Institute, about teaching humane education.
